Carla’s relationship with the President has become the talk of France. Speculation reached new heights on Friday when an internet blogger claimed Miss Bruni was pregnant, after a hospital leaked details of a scan.
But the claims were swiftly removed from the website, which said it could not verify them. The Elysee Palace refused to comment.
Last week the president hinted he might propose to Carla, to whom he gave a Dior ring at Christmas.
Last night Marisa fuelled the rumours by saying: « The president has spoken of marriage but it would not be right of me to say anything. »
When asked if Carla is pregnant, she added: « That is not what I hear. »
When asked if he had any advice for Carla about twice-divorced Sarkozy, Mr Remmert said: « I never butt into the lives of my daughters. I wish them to be happy, whoever they are with. »
But one friend said: « Now the question is, will he walk Carla down the aisle? He loves to cook, maybe he will even do the reception. »
